Grace Weber's Music Lab: September 2019
The Juju Exchange
This is the first in a series of recap video I created for 88Nine Radio Milwaukee, a radio station and community programming nonprofit organization. The Grace Weber's Music Lab is a free event that provides a space for youth to learn about careers in the music industry. Each music lab features a different musician who performs, answers questions about their work, and then provides feedback and advice to the youth who perform.
You can see other recap videos on the Grace Weber Music Lab YouTube channel including those featuring musicians Jean DeauxRB Vic, Mag Rodriguez and Aichelle White, and Victoria Canal w/ Andrew Leib
"Dog River" Live - Nickel & Rose ft. SistaStrings
Nickel & Rose opened for SistaStrings at Anodyne Coffee in Walker's Point in winter 2018. I covered 2 songs from each of their sets as well as this haunting collaboration they performed. As a live-music-lover, filming and editing this video was an incredible experience.
View the other videos from the two groups' performances on that chilly winter night on my Vimeo page including the songs "Red Rocking Chair," "Moving Pianos," and "Life Goes On," by Nickel & Rose, and SistaStrings's performance of "Passacaglia."
DJ Kenny Perez at Fiserv Forum, Opening for Alessia Cara and LovelyTheBand
Marquette University's homecoming concert featured some very big name bands in 2019. With only 2 micro-four-thirds cameras, my camera assistant, Caleb, and I captured as much of the audience and DJ Kenny Perez's performance as we could in the small amount of time and space we were allotted. Despite the restrictions, we turned out an exciting video of the DJ session.
"Since Lu Been Gone" by A-Z
The cramped performance and viewing area at Milwaukee bar Fire on Water was a challenge to navigate for my 3-person camera team and pared down audio setup, but we managed to get exciting closeups of the band as they jammed in the window of the bar. Passerby paused when they saw the music and funky colored lights, and A-Z's high energy music and dancing was great to experience in person and capture on video.
Eaux Claires 2016 (part 1)
Eaux Claires in Eau Claire, Wisconsin is the middle-of-nowhere art and music festival creation of Justin Vernon (of the band Bon Iver). I attended one day of the festival's first year and I couldn't wait to come back and capture some of that experience on video in 2016.
Filming and editing the music festival experience encouraged me to make a video for another music festival, Rock the Green, which is a Milwaukee-based nonprofit organization that puts together environmentally sustainable concert events. See more about Rock the Green in my Nonprofit Organization Projects section.
You can view the other two Eaux Claires 2016 videos on my Vimeo.
